Giiiirrl, whatcha got in that Fridge

The best advice on diet is to have a clean, healthy fridge and pantry. If I have junk food around I will eat it and I have a feeling I'm not alone. I don't know maybe YOU have more willpower than I do; as I have zilch.

So with that in mind, I thought I would share my fridge staples and why:

- 0% Plain Greek yogurt
I use it to replace sour cream and I make Tzatziki (a Greek cucumber yogurt sauce) all the time. It's a quick and healthy dip that I eat with veggies or pretzels.

-Cut up and cleaned Veggies. I love snow peas, peppers and cucumbers best.
I clean and cut veggies on Sunday after shopping so that during the week they are an easy snack that doesn't take prep.

-Hummus ingredients: chickpeas, lemons, garlic, tahini.
Hummus is another quick and healthy dip that I pack with my veggies for lunch or use as part of a wrap sandwich. Sooo much cheaper and healthier to make your own than buying it. As long as you have a food processor it's a piece of cake.

-Applesauce
I really don't have much of a preference when it comes to bought vs. homemade. I think homemade is tastier but it creates a mess and peeling all those apple... well I'm just too lazy for that ;) Just make sure to get no sugar added applesauce so you don't load up on the bad stuff.

-Protein bars
Ty and I like to keep our protein bars in the fridge, they taste yummy chilled and they are harder to chew so you take more time eating it. My newest obsession has become Luna Chocolate pepperment bars. I grab them for breakfast when I'm running late. I find that if I have something sweet in the morning I crave it less later.

Till next time,
Meli

Ps. I linked my favorite recipes for Hummus and Tzatziki, just click on the highlighted words. Go figure both recipes are both by my food heroine, Ina Garten.
